IELTS One Skill Retake in the UAE 2026
Missed your target band in just one section? IELTS One Skill Retake (OSR) lets you retake a single skill—Listening, Reading, Writing or Speaking—without sitting the whole test again. This guide covers OSR availability, cost and booking for candidates in the UAE.

Availability in the UAE
One Skill Retake is available across the UAE at computer-delivered IELTS centres in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, through both British Council and IDP. The UAE was one of the earlier OSR markets and availability is good.

How to Book OSR in the UAE
Log in to the British Council or IDP account you used for your original computer-delivered test in the UAE.
Open your result and select “One Skill Retake”, choose the skill you want to retake, then pick a date and centre in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah.
Complete the retake within 60 days of your original test date.
Eligibility Reminders
- Your original test must be computer-delivered IELTS (Academic or General Training) — not paper-based, not IELTS Online
- Only one skill, only once per original test
- The retake must be completed within 60 days of the original test date
- You receive a new Test Report Form combining your original three scores with the retake score — and your original TRF stays valid too

Who Accepts OSR Results from the UAE?
The UAE has a large expatriate test-taker base — including many Pakistani, Indian and Filipino residents renewing scores for UK, Australian and Canadian applications. All four of those destinations accept OSR results for computer-delivered IELTS (UKVI in selected locations), making the UAE one of the most OSR-friendly places to test.
