IELTS Exam Day Tips: Your Complete Guide

Test day can be stressful, but being prepared makes a huge difference. This guide covers everything you need to know: what to bring, what to expect, and strategies to perform your best when it counts.

Exam Day Checklist

Bring:

  • Valid passport (the exact same one used for registration - not expired)
  • Clear water bottle (label removed)
  • Confirmation email/booking reference (optional but recommended)

Do NOT Bring:

  • Mobile phone (leave it at home or in a locker if available)
  • Watch (including analogue - a clock is provided in the room)
  • Pens or pencils (these are provided)
  • Food or snacks
  • Bags or wallets (secure storage may be available)
  • Any electronic devices

  • Do not read every word
  • If stuck for 60 seconds, guess and move on

Writing

  • Spend 5 min planning before writing
